With the rate of tax increases on wireless telecommunications services going four times higher than tax increases in other goods and services, US lawmakers called to have a five-year moratorium on any further increase.
The new bill calls for the moratorium on discriminatory taxes, or those taxes that are generally not imposed on other goods or those that are generally imposed at a lower rate. Quite unsurprisingly, local cash-strapped governments reacted against this move.
