Sprint Goes to Court

By News Minder at 08/21/08 10:05
Sprint Nextel recently was brought to court over an issue that cell phone users are well aware of. That is the early termination fees that customers are forced to pay is they choose to end their plan before the contract runs out. Of course this restricted users to switch plans if the wished to do so.

I know that for Verizon users it costs some odd 175 dollars to end your plan. There is justice for the customer though. Sprint was forced to pay 73 million dollars in refunds. I am sure that other providers will follow to avoid the situation that Sprint is in. Read Sprint loses out in termination fee ruling for more information.

The New iphone has Competition

By News Minder at 08/18/08 14:15
The next biggest thing in wireless is making its debut. The Blackberry Bold is stepping up to challenge the new iphone 3G. The COO on the Blackberry side even said he would like to take the CEO of Apple out for drinks!

This article, Bold step for BlackBerry - Articles - Mobiles & Handhelds - Digital Life, outlines the competition between the two phones. I personally think that they have some features that are unnecessary for the average person but work great in a professional setting.

Cell Users Reluctant to Connect to the Internet

By News Minder at 08/14/08 10:36
Many cell phone providers are probably a little let down by the amount of people that connect to the internet with all of the new, faster 3G networks. Well it really comes from a lack of communication between provider and customer. Many contracts just aren't clear about costs to use the internet on the phone. It is not something that stands out when you sign up for phone service.

I personally think that if they want to see and increase in the use of mobile internet they need to make it more attractive to consumers. Like text messages for instance. When plans started introducing unlimited text messaging, I am sure there was an increase in that department. To read about this issue visit, Operator costs hamper mobile internet - Web User News.

Pop Machines are Going 3G

By News Minder at 08/14/08 10:12
I never thought I would see the day when the pop machines that dispense us cold beverages would be connected to the same network as our cell phones. Why? you ask. Well it is all part of an advertising campaign for Coca Cola. They have teamed up with AVT Inc. to distribute the fancy machines.

The beverage machines will have an LCD screen that is hooked up to a 3G network similar to that used by today's smartphones. It is a neat idea for advertising but is it really necessary? Decide for yourself, read AVT Announces Digital Advertising Pilot With Coke

How-To on the New iphone

By News Minder at 08/12/08 10:12
This really is a great idea. MonkeySee, which is a site that has a ton of video presentations on how-to do mostly anything, is the only video streaming site that takes advantage of the new iphone's enhanced video capabilities.

This is great because if you are doing things like home improvement, you can go through a how to video at the hardware store to make sure you have all of the correct supplies. To read more about MonkeySee and the iphone visit, How-to Videos Go Mobile With MonkeySee for Apple iPhone 3G(R).

New iphone is Small Business Friendly

By News Minder at 08/12/08 10:00
In the past, the original iphone was not good for small businesses that could not support or afford a network to use some of the features. Now, the new iphone 3G fixes the problem.

First of all it is much less expensive than the original by a couple of hundred dollars which is more practical for small businesses. There are also companies that work with small business owners to set up an inexpensive network to run programs like MailServer and Microsoft Exchange. Australia to get 3G Radio Stations

By News Minder at 08/01/08 11:09
By Christmas, it is expected that the Australian public will be able to get over 40 radio stations via their 3G phones or the internet for 10 dollars a month. For a radio service, I think the cost is kind of steep.

Think about it, they could use a radio or the car stereo to listen to the radio. It would make more sense to enlist a service that would allow the people to choose the songs they got for 10 dollars a month. To read more visit, Stripe to Launch 30+ Radio Stations Over 3G Networks.
